They quoted too much to do a little plumbing, so we decided to DIY it.

My Son has a damaged sewer line, but they told him it would cost $25,000.00 to replace. Greed shouldn't be rewarded, so I moved my small backhoe there and made an exploration hole.

The pipe wasn't where it was supposed to be, so the hole got pretty large.

My friend Randy came to help too, but he is mostly extra eyes; since he tore up a knee, he has to sit a lot. But he's pretty smart, and good to have around to watch for surprises!

But I found the pipe, 5 foot down; with a backflow leak from downstream indicating the location to look for the damage.

What looks like a pipe here is actually a root that will be removed before the hole is refilled.

My little backhoe had no trouble ripping out the blacktop driveway, which saved a lot of pick work!

This is about 5 foot down, just about when I found the pipe. It will reach 7 feet down, so we should be able to dig out the entire line, with my baby backhoe!

I will try to get back there on Sunday, and expose the full line. The repair should be quick at that point, as I have a diamond saw to remove the damaged pipe.

I am sure now that the baby backhoe will have no problem with the wallipini I plan to dig on the homestead. So I guess this is just prepping practice, LOL!
