Glacier National Park Sits in Two Countries, Canada and the USA

Lake McDonald sleeps peacefully in the early evening sunset as soft alpenglow colors grace the mountains in the distance.

I lensed this image while exploring the wilderness around Glacier National Park and the Flathead River below the Flathead Mountains.

This is a landscape of two countries, the hill in the immediate foreground to the right is the western part of Belton Hills and on the left are the mountains of the Smoky Range. 

Lake McDonald is peaking out from behind the Belton Hills and across the small Apgar Mountains in the center of the valley are the mountains of three different ranges; Dutch Ridge, Logging Ridge, Quartz Ridge, Numa Ridge, Park Ridge, Starvation Ridge and then the Boundary Mountains.

Across the valley in the short distance is Canada, hence the Boundary Mountains. 

I took this while flying in Montana in the USA, and shooting north, across the valley into Canada. 

This image is from my ongoing project in which I am trying to raise awareness of the 47% of the USA and 90% of Canada that remain unpopulated wilderness.
