Ancient sanctuary Alan
In the Gorge Tsey there is one of the most famous historical monuments of North Ossetia - the ancient Alan Sanctum Rekom.
According to the Ossetian Nart epic, in the place where one of the three tears of God fell, shed about the death of the Batradza nart, the Rekom sanctuary was formed.
The river is one of 3 unusual characters of the Nart epic, except Mykalgaburta and Taranjeloz. This is a national sanctuary from Ossetian mythology, very revered in Ossetia - the fertility deity. Since the ancient times, the River has been asked to send a rich harvest, or asked for a good prey on the hunt. He was also approached with requests for healing from illness and protection from the evil eye.
The cult of veneration of the River is widely spread, and the holiday dedicated to the River is celebrated by Ossetians in mid-July. The festival lasts a whole week, and at that time the residents of Ossetia perform the sacrifice of the River.
