Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha
Lumbini is probably one of the most fascinating destinations in all of Nepal. However, the most touristic attraction is Pokhara, a nice clean vibrant city which looks so much unlike the real Nepal. Unlike Pokhara, Lumbini is not that much noisy, but you can feel the peacefulness and tranquility. It is said to be the birthplace of Lord Buddha.
In fact, the city has not much entertainment to offer. The main interesting part is the park in which numerous temples are located. They belong to different countries; China, Korea, Japon, ... . I experienced the highest pleasure when I realized that I have the chance to stay in the temples.
I was told by another backpacker that one can stay in the Korean temple and have three meals for 5 bucks a day. How nice is that! Of course, I didn't hesitate. I went back directly to the hostel I stayed the night before, got all my stuff and went back to the Korean temple. There I had the chance to hire a bike every day for two bucks to explore all the temples.
Although the food was almost the same every day, it felt very nice to experience the way the monks live for a week.
There I had the chance to sit down, have the same food everyday and small talks with other backpackers.
