They merged in 1952 to become the British Motor Corporation (BMC) Limited. I still don't understand why the UK no longer makes its own cars on a large scale. We make cars for everyone else now. There were some bad designs that killed it off but other countries went through that and still have a car industry. Peugeot stopped making good cars years ago but they're still going.
