📷 Underwater World of Small Cold Pound. Part 2

in #photography6 years ago

So, we are still in the flooded former dolomite quarry in the Moscow region, near the town of Shchelkovo. Now let's see an interesting phenomenon — a thermocline. A thermocline is a layer of water in which the temperature differs sharply from the upper and lower layers.

In other words, we have here sharply chilled the water a few degrees. Let's see in the literal sense of the word: it looks like a fog that envelops the bottom. An interesting sight.

Especially for divers, various objects are dropped into the water, which then we can search at the bottom and look how they change. This is an interesting activity, actually. Now we found the body of an old car. You can even sit in it if you wish.

Here we have a desktop with computers and, perhaps, a scanner? And by the way, here we see a manager, the owner of these things! On the right, take a look. It seems to be a woman. Dut she has changed a lot and is overgrown with shells)

Well, again the branches of the underwater forest are here. And again without pikes and catfish on them! Oh, well, okay... Next time!

Thank you very much!

Great works, love underwater photography, really different world to explore...

I like underwater world! It is very interesting and beautiful!

Interesting what kind of things you can find disposed in the water. I wonder what those people were thinking while throwing these things in there. It's like when I don't see it, it doesn't exist principle - very sad. However it does make great photographic material ;)

Is the water really so green or did you use any special lights to add the color? I've never heard of that phenomena with changing temperature of water. It looks interesting and I wonder how it feels to be there :)

Thank you for sharing!

Many ships are flooded to turn them into an artificial coral reef. Here, where there is no coral, these things are flooded specifically to make it more interesting for divers to swim under water. Special threads are stretched to them, along which one can find these objects. I really hope that if the dive center stops its work, it will clean up after itself.

The water is really green because it blooms. It contains a lot of algae - phytoplankton. Coloring of the water is due to the high concentration of pigmented cells.

Really weird to see those objects under the waterline. Here in the Netherlands we sometimes let an old shipwreck sink to create an object where underwater life can find its way, so small lobsters, fish etc can find/build their houses in it. Are these objects with the same reason here dropped into the water or just for the diver its fun?

All these things are flooded specifically for divers.

Really beautiful photos. I'm a huge fan of exploring the underwater world, but so far I've only tried snorkeling with fins and a mask, but I hope to give it a shot with real deep sea diving soon. All in all, I adore this post, cheers!

I strongly advise you to start learning diving right away. This makes it easy to understand the basic principles and get rid of fear.

I am glad that I liked my photos!

Are you sure that water was not radioactive? It looks too green :)
I wonder if the manager was also real. Any missing persons that might have ended up in those waters?
Very surreal images.
I had not heard of that thermocline thing. Interesting.
Any sealife in those waters?

I and the green color of the water is caused by algae, not by radioactivity. I don’t know about the missing people, but I think not - there are too many divers and often dive.

Here there are different types of fish - perch, pike and catfish, as well as quite a lot of crayfish.
