Khujand is an ancient city, which was founded by Alexander the Great (Macedonian). In Soviet times it was called Leninabad. Central Asia is felt in everything there. It is the Friday Mosque (Masjidi Jami) with an ancient minaret, decorated with Central Asian ornaments.
