For all of you overseas you must be wondering what the heck a vygie is. Here in South Africa we have what is called in Afrikaans vynbos, which is a range of fauna indigenous to our dry climate country. The vygie is called so because it means 'small fig'.

In latin, the plant is called Mesembryanthemum which is why some English people just called it Mesemb. It means 'midday flower'. I am fortunate enough to have the vygie in my front yard, with this stunning flower which is now currently in bloom.

I hardly ever have to take care of the vygie, as it is a low groundcover plant that thrives on dry climate. So even now with the water crisis our country is going through, this vynbos is making me proud.

Looks amazing. Thanks for joining in Tpot Contest.

Just acquired of view pieces of vygie from another garden. They are so easy to get growing, shooting out new roots withing days. Will be planting them soon and then hoping they spread far and wide!
