Escaping the Pandemic in the Mountains: First Post after 5-month Hiatus.

Hello Steemit! Long time no see! Longer than I thought actually.
I hope you're doing well, or as well as can be during these trying times. I've finally made my way back onto Hive and mustered the will to make some new posts. You'd think with so much more time lately I'd have been posting more, but the mental fatigue of the virus and lockdown has been quite draining and demotivating.
With that said, today I wanted to share some photos and stories from a trip I took when the pandemic was still in it's heights. With the lockdown growing many antsy to move and get out, me and a friend decided to go up to the mountains of New Hampshire to camp and hike.
We rented a car and then began our 2 hour drive north towards the mountains. After a brief stop to get some supplies, we headed up the mountain to the camp ground we would be staying at, Russel Pond.
It's about a 10 minute drive up the mountain. We reach the camp sites and begin the hunt for the best spot, which is one spot that is right on the pond, and has water access. But of course it was taken. Fortunately, another site not far away was available, and a 2 minute walk to the pond. We set up camp here.
Now this was my friends first time camping up in the mountains, he's from Florida, and he brought just a hammock. He set that up, and I set up my tent. We had a fire and then settled in for our first night of camping.
The next morning I asked how he slept, and he said not at all. He kept hearing noises in the woods and was afraid it was a bear. The next 2 nights he'd stay in my tent and forget about the hammock.
Today we'd do our first hike, but first took a quick ride up to Mt.Washington, the highest mountain in New England, and home to the most severe weather in the world!
You can see, even though it's already early summer, there's still snow!
After that, we had a good day hike, hitting some waterfalls, mountain train bridges, and some drone flying!
So I'm actually going to wrap this up here, I hope you enjoyed a little of the story and some of the images I captured. I'll leave on the note of how important it is to find little escapes and adventures during these tough times, while also trying to stay as safe and responsible as possible.
