Turin's National Car Museum.
Today I visited the Turin Museum of Automobile.
Born in 1932 by the idea of Cesare Goria Gatti and Roberto Biscaretti of Ruffia. But it is in the figure of Carlo Biscaretti of Ruffia, son of Roberto, aristocrat of Turin, that the museum is indissolubly bound. It was for him to think of it and to gather the initial collection and look for the right place to get it started.
The museum was inaugurated one year after his death in 1960 and was named after his own.
Architect Albertini specifically designed to host the museum a building on the left bank of the Po, not far from Lingotto. In 2005, the restoration and renovation of the building began, in September 2014, aiming at making the museum more interactive as well as enhancing multimedia communication. This museum boasts one of the rarest and most interesting cars collections. There are over 200 original cars, from the mid 1800's to more than 80 different brands, coming from several countries including Italy, of course, but also France, Great Britain, Germany, Poland, 'Holland, Spain and the United States.
Turin's national car museum is today one of the oldest car museums in the world and is unique in its kind in Italy. For the enthusiasts of the four wheels it is a compulsory stage to observe closely the evolution of such an important invention..
