The Wolf Spider

This is the Wolf Spider. From the family LYCOSIDAE. They can be found in many different countries around the world.
Wolf spiders are amazing creatures. They do not spin webs and lead solitary lives. They have amazing eyesight and are good hunters. They can be differentiated from Nursery Web Spiders from their eyes.
Of their eight eyes the Wolf Spider has two bigger eyes which are easily noticed as being bigger than the other six eyes,
where as the Nursery Web spider has eight eyes of an equal size. When the thousands of babies hatch the spider will carry them on her back until fully developed. What a devoted mother!
Nature is so continuously inspiring. Did you get close up to nature recently? There is so much to learn, and amaze and delight you when you do.
