Hi Steemit Family

This is the Fiery- Billed Aracari. A small toucan who breeds solely on the Pacific slopes of southern Costa Rica and Western Panama. What a treat to see them and take these colourful photos! There were a group of four, maybe five passing by when I captured these.

Thank you so much.

Wow! You are so lucky! These are fantastic birds!! Good thing they are not in my country! Those bad hunters will catch them all and sell them in the black market!

Thanks for the comment. Everything is protected here by law. There are still a few hunters but they mostly get caught, not the wildlife.

Oh, Sally!!! @sallybeth23 I was (I thought it was Panama, but, could have been Costa Rica) down there and on a nature walk when I actually saw one. In living color.

Okay, being a native New Englander and not used to anything like that unless it is in the zoo, I was speechless to see the wonder of it, actually perched and in the wild. It was a most bizarre and awesome sight, beyond my capability to describe.

How fortunate for you to behold this as an event that is normal. Flamingos in a herd also take my breath away. I had never seen one in the wild and saw them for the first time on the island of Bonaire.

Nature is amazing. Humans need to take better care of it. A most wonderous post, my friend!

Hey Denise @dswigle ! I am so happy that you has seen them in the wild first hand. It is a phenomenal experience, they almost seem cartoon like. It is sad that even here so much forest had been removed but it is these days illegal to cut trees without permission and my hope is that their habitat will increase and rejuvenate given the chance now this land is predominantly protected by law.

Yes!! That is it! Cartoonish! You nailed it on the head! Exactly!

I am so happy that they have put those restrictions on and so sad to see so much gone. My wish is to see it increase to a level that all of the inhabitants can live with.

Have a most wonderful day, Sally!

Good morning from here!

If we all plant a tree just once a month the planet will soon be a different place. We have all the tools and materials to heal her.... it just takes intention now xxx
