Sinulog Fluvial Parade and Solemn Procession
The Sinulog Fluvial Parade is one of the highlights during the Sinulog Annual Festival. The fluvial event is basically a re-enactment of the arrival of the Ferdinand Magellan's ship in the shore of cebu during the 16th century. Bringing with the image of the holy child Jesus-the Sto. Niño and christianity to the Philippine islands.
The fluvial procession of the image of Sto. Niño from Lapu-Lapu to Pier 3 of Cebu City.
After waiting for more than 3 hours the navy ship carrying the miraculous image arrive at Pier 3 of Cebu.
The image was then carried from Pier 3 to the Basilica Del Sto. Niño for the solemn procession.
At afternooon, thousands of devotee joins the solemn procession despite of rains. Thousands of catholic faithful braved the intermittent rain and joins the solemn procession of the holy child Jesus.
The solemn procession displays the Holy Family
The image of St. Joseph came first...
followed by the Blessed Virgin Mary...
and then the Holy Child Jesus-Sto. Niño
