Treetuesday: Black Monkey Thorn: Bonsai
Treetuesday: Black Monkey Thorn: Bonsai

The photos in this post is of a Bosai Black Monkey Tree, standing in my parents kitchen. The tree is dating from 2003 and is thus 14 years old!! Just see how small it is in relation to the other pot plants in the window!!

The amazing thing of Bonsai trees are that they mimic the full size trees perfectly. Below are some of the leaves closer up.

Look at the detail of the bark - amazing!!

For a small tree it is packing some punch - look at those thorns!!

The Black Monkey Tree's botanical name is "Acacia Burkei. These trees are endemic to Southern Africa. It is a large spreading tree (25m x 10m) with white flowers and bright red seed pods.
The photos were taken by me using my iPhone.
Hope you like it.
My bonsai does not look as good as yours....
It is my mother that is looking after it, and she has green fingers.
