They don't offer a tour here, but there is a little parking lot where you can park an walk around and take some photos. The road and walkway across the dam is closed to pedestrians and large vehicles. It is also closed between 11 PM and 5 AM daily. The dam is located on the Colorado River between California and Arizona and forms Lake Havasu upstream of it.

Some facts about Parker Dam:
It is known as “the deepest dam in the world.” Because of the depth of the bedrock under the Colorado River amost three quarters of the Dam's 320-foot structure is not visible.

Construction began on Parker Dam in 1934. Throughout 1935 construction start and stopped because of the Arizona governor's opposition to the project. He objected to the fact that water stored by the dam was to be transported to rapidly growing California cities. Finally in August 1935, Arizona lost the battle when Congress passed the Rivers and Harbors Bill, which included authorization for Parker Dam.

Concrete for Parker Dam was first poured in July of 1937 and completed one year later. On October 16, 1938, Lake Havasu, Mojave for “blue water,” began to fill. On the lake shore the W. P. Whitsett Intake Pumping Plant sent water into the Colorado River Aqueduct. The aqueduct still provides water to as far west as Lake Mathews near Riverside, California and is power by half of the generating capacity of Parker Dam.

Parker Dam was dedicated on November 19, 1938.

No Dam tour. lol. I love the dam though, the men guarding and waving as we pass over. Traveling on a piece of history is so exciting. Great blog.
