A Dam Stop On Our Trip West
Melton Hill Dam
One of our stops along our way west was at the Melton Hill Campground. The campground is operated by the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) and is located along the Melton Hill Lake which is formed by the Melton Hill Dam.
The Melton Hill Dam is located on the Clinch River just south of Oak Ridge, Tennessee and is operated by the TVA. The dam was built in the early 1960's and has an electrical generating capacity of 79 megawatts. The dam also has a navigation lock to allow shipping to pass along the river.
Oak Ridge, Tennessee was home to the Manhattan Project which developed and produced the atomic bomb used in World War II and is the site of the Oak Ridge National Laboratory as scientific development still is crucial to the local economy.

A little later in the day I took a walk to the dam with my 2 labs, Ozzie and Sammy
Ozzie surveying the dam.
Sammy was more interested in seeing if anyone was coming down the road.
