The Magic of Venice / Der Zauber von Venedig Pt. 2

What's the best way to see Venice? After several visits as day trippers, we finally decided to spend a week in Venice and we ended up booking a vacation apartment on a small farm South of Venice on the mainland. In Italian they refer to this as Agriturismo, and we found a lovely place close to Venice, situated in a quiet area, along the Brenta river -- Camarcello

We could cook when we wanted to, and they even bought us our bus tickets, so we could catch the nearby bus which took us directly to Venice.

Wie kann man Venedig am besten besuchen? Nach mehreren Besichtigungen als Tagesausflügler haben wir endlich beschlossen, eine Woche in Venedig zu verbringen. Wir haben eine Ferienwohnung auf einem kleinen Bauernhof südlich von Venedig auf dem Festland gebucht. Auf italienisch nennt man das Agriturismo. Wir fanden einen schönen Platz in der Nähe von Venedig, in einer ruhigen Gegend, entlang des Brenta Flußes - Camarcello )

Wir hatten die Möglichkeit uns selber zu versorgen. Sie waren super Nett und kauften für uns sogar unsere Bustickets. So konnten wir den nahe gelegenen Bus nehmen, der uns direkt nach Venedig führte.

That was a great experience and after a few years we decided to spend another week in Venice. This time we decided to fly from Munich and we booked a hotel on the island of Lido, which protects Venice from the open waters.

We bought a public transportation boat pass for the time we were there, so we could visit all the islands and Venice, but return to Lido in the evening to eat and relax away from the tourist center -- this was in the springtime during the off season.

We would leave for Venice with the working people from Lido early each morning, and you could experience a normal city bustling with goods being delivered, trash being picked up, and hardly a tourist in sight.

Das war eine tolle Erfahrung und nach ein paar Jahren haben wir uns entschlossen, eine weitere Woche in Venedig zu verbringen. Diesmal haben wir uns entschieden, von München aus zu fliegen, und wir buchten ein Hotel auf der Insel Lido, das Venedig vor dem offenen Wasser schützt.

Wir kauften einen öffentlichen Transportboot-Pass für die Zeit, die wir dort waren, und damit konnten wir die alle Inseln und Venedig selbst besuchen, am Abend kehrten wir nach Lido zurück, weg von der Hektik zu essen und zu entspannen - das war im Frühling während der Off-Season.

Wir sind jeden Morgen früh nach Venedig mit den arbeitenden Leuten von Lido per Boat gefahren. Es war schön ein normales Stadttreiben zu erleben -- Warenlieferungen, Müllabfuhr, und kaum Touristen.

Notice all the boats are transporting something, even the gondola. Alle Boote transportieren etwas, sogar die Gondeln.

Since this post is about things I find the gondolas to be some of the most beautiful things in Venice. Da dieser Beitrag über Things ist, finde ich die Gondeln, eines der schönsten "Dinge" die Venedig zu bieten hat.

Together as a group they are equally as beautiful as they are up close. Als Gruppe sind sie genauso schön wie ein einziges von der Nähe.

In Venice, even simple things like clothes hanging out to dry are beautiful.

In Venedig sind sogar einfache Dinge wie Kleider, die zum Trocknen hängen, schön.
