Double Rainbows and Hell's Bells
The surf coast is about to get super, super busy. I mean, it's already crazy - in the old days there would be sleeping dogs in the main street and you'd just drive around them, and I could ride my horse across the main bridge in town. Do that now and you, your horse and the dogs would be pancakes, run over by streams of tourists chasing beauty but also destroying it at the same time. The coast's proximity to Melbourne has made it full of people moving down for a sea change and pushing up house prices so I could never afford to buy a place in the town I grew up in. But the Rip Curl Pro, held at Bells Beach over Easter every year, is about to make this no-longer sleepy town even crazier. Thank god I know the back roads, and the little spaces at dawn and dusk and odd beaches where you might just get a little space and silence. Or maybe we'll skip town altogether, and wait for Winter to roll in, where for a blessed moment, we can breath.
Dooes double rainbow give double gold? xD
Sad thing is that many tourists do not respect what is not theirs, most of them leave trash behind or can't respect simple rules turning beautiful places, like this, into a nightmare.
Double rainbows give double gold in my heart!!! Yes, they can do. I actually find the international tourists a lot more respectful than some Australians who visit, to be honest, which is awful!! We have a 'take 3' campaign here - take 3 pieces of rubbish off the beach every time you leave. to be honest, we aren't as bad as some places (Bali is having a terrible problem at the moment) but nor do I want them to get that way. Where do you live?
That's so cool, I like the take 3 campaign, maybe we should start something like that here. I live in southern Brazil, my state is called Rio Grande do Sul, it's near Uruguay and Argentina.
Last year I tried a visa to New Zealand, but due to limited applications I couldn't get it. I'll try again this year, either NZ or Australia. My friends that live in Australia are trying hard to bring me to the other side of the world hahaha
There you go!!! You could do the Take 3 Campaign - have a look into it. Ah my son's step Mum is from Brazil, from Florianapolis I think? I'd love to go to Brazil - one day. Ah where are your friends?? I think you'd like Australia - a lot of south Americans do and enjoy travelling here - i think because the beach life thing is comparable and we've both got BIG spaces. Be cool if you could make it!
