Video game photography - Andromeda Galaxy

in #photography7 years ago (edited)

I'm an avid video gamer at heart and my format of choice is the Xbox One, I'm not getting into any console wars etc I have just been a member of Xbox for many years and my friends are Xbox players which is why I stick with it.

This is a new blog to me something a little different. A little Andromeda tourism if you will.

The story

Thousands of years in the future Humans have conquered space travel exploring the milky way galaxy by means of a mass effect relay, this relay opens a small black hole between relays instantly transporting ships to all ends of the galaxy, within the milky way are a diverse range of races, the dominant being humans, turians, salarian, krogan and asari. In a joint endeavor the dominant races of the milky way lead by a group called the initiative a dream is born, each race travelling in it's own ark will travel to the galaxy Andromeda in the hopes of finding a new home and establishing settlements amoungst Andromeda's 'golden planets', planets which have been deemed perfect in terms of settlement values.

Sealed in a cryo sleep hundreds of thousands of inhabitants from the dominant races of the milky way will travel for 600 years through space to reach the Andromeda galaxy.

Unpon arrival everything goes wrong and a war is raging between the Angara, a race native to Andromeda and the Kett an agressive race of aliens using biological experimentation to engineer angarans into Kett fighters, based within the heleus cluster of the Andromeda galaxy you star as the role of Ryder a pathfinder whos job is to scout these alien planets and render them viable for habitation.

Photography

So the Xbox and other consoles has the ability to screenshot what you are doing on the game therefore allowing some in game photography, whether this will be popular or not who knows but this is a series of shots taken in Kadara a port once owned by the Angara but overthrown by a group of milky way initiative outcasts who were exiled from the Nexus, the initiatives captital a massive space born city.

The outcasts are criminals who couldn't abide by the rules of the Nexus and were outcast into space within the Heleus cluster.

Kadara is now a pirate haven for criminals and those unfortunate to be caught up in the outcast rebellion.

Kadara as it appears from space, the entire galaxy is shadowed by a massive black hole

The port of Kadara rests atop a massive cliff overlooking the bad lands

The port of Kadara is a huge gloomy platform broke up by the upper city and the lower slums at the entrance to the bad lands

Upon arrival here it's apparent the port is ruled by fear, the outcasts from the nexus police the port by force

Needing information I'm escorted at gun point by an outcast krogan to sloane the outcasts leader

Murder is common in Kadara I spot this on the way to the slums

In the slums sits the gate to the badlands

Kadara is a poisinous planet saturated with sulfur and full of poisinous pools, the water is so concentrated with sulfur it sets on fire during the midday sun, most rock formations are jagged due to the errosion of naturaly occurring corrosive acid. Some plants are edible due to a unique type of rock in certain areas of kadara which can completely filter the sulfur from the water rendering it safe to drink

The nomad ND1 my best friend in planetary exploration it provides life support in toxic enviroments and boy can it move, it's a six wheel rover with two suspension configurations, one for speed, one for climbing steep inclines

Time to begin exploration of this alien planet, the Nomad serves me well

So time to return to my job as Pathfinder and check this planet for viability, see you next time....

Hi Ricky, enjoyed your post, shame you cant remove the UI in some of your shots.

Yea certain points of the game allowed me to remove the UI but others didn't it annoyed me.

on Andromeda how much can you control the camera? you could pull back the view, take the image then crop to your intended frame

Not a whole lot to be honest I'll play around with it more when I'm on it again. If it was the PC version I've no doubt i could remove the UI and probably Ryder as well

Just trying something a little different.
