Angkor Vat - Ta Prohm, The Jungle Temple

in #photography6 years ago

Hi, Dear Steemians Friends

Another day, another temple of Angkor Vat. So far we've just seen two temples of the gigantic Angkor site. Today, I decided to bring you to Ta Prohm the jungle temple, also known as "Tomb Raider Temple" by the locals, because of many shots of the movie has been shot here and has also helped the place to gain in popularity. It is a place not far from the main Angkor temple, about 3 km in the North East of Angkor. This place has been forgotten for centuries and the jungle has started to take it back, today the temple of Ta Prohm is already cleaned from most of the jungle but the trees remain in place. The entire place of Angkor has been built without mortar in between the stones so it has given the root of the trees enough space to grow on the top of the temple. It has been decided to leave the trees in place as it gives the place a feel straight out of the "jungle book". Ta Prohm is made of a series of enclosures with the largest is about a kilometer long and more than a half in width. It still a huge temple. It center stupa (tower) is said to be a representation of Prajnaparamita and represents the wisdom. During the last two decades, Ta Prohm has become one of Angkor milestones and people come from all around the world to see it. Here a few shots of Ta Prohm for the eyes pleasure. Sorry some picture quality has been altered by weather condition, very overcast day, very high temperature and high humidity.

The jungle temple or Tomb Raider Temple is a very beautiful ancient place, and I like the roots of the big trees that are wielding around the area all the amazing...Thank you very much for sharing the beautiful photos of temple of Angkor Vat @ricko99

I am happy that you enjoy it :)

Incredible trees and huge roots!
I think they will start walking around the temple during the night!

Thank You @kaminchan, yes it is an amazing place where nature has taken back her place, for the night walk I am not sure or maybe when the trees need to go make commissions :) The last picture of the cat was for you :)

I thought the cat was an apparition from one of the sculptures. I did not think you would carry a cat with you!
There are no villages nearby so how could the cat get there?!

The trees are very rich! They know where the gold was hidden! They got so bored in this old quiet place. They went to wild parties at night!

I think the cats are living there and get feed by the guides or sellers that come around on a daily basis. If the trees are very rich they may end up at night in Pub Street in Siem Reap and get drunk then gets back to temples before sun rising. :)

No wonder their roots are were crooked, they couldn’t grow straight!

It looks like an octopus more than the trees!

Besides flat temples in the classical style of Angkor Wat, there are even vaster flat temple complexes in Angkor, from the Bayon style period, this means, they are from the time of the Buddhist king Jayavarman VII. He also built a temple mountain, the Bayon, as his state temple. But all his other projects of enormous dimensions were flat temples.

Angkor Tom around the site of Bayon is the biggest in size but about the Angkor history, there are many things that are nonsense. king Jayavarman VII was not the only builder of Angkor. All the bas-reliefs date from his time but temples structures are older. There is a battle between the researcher and historian about it. Science says something and historian another, Thank you.

Very great i think it naturally archetecture the tree roots are spread like a maze.

It reminds me of an octopus over the temple :)

These trees and roots that have remained steadfast so far, God knows how many generations have passed, it is nature and culture at the same time, a special subject Thank you rickoo

Yes, many generations have passed in front of these giant trees also many animals as the temple was lost in the jungle for centuries. Thanks @taoufik nice to read your post again :)

Thank you too dear rickoo for these amazing information

วิหารอังกอร์ดูเก่าแก่และสวยงามมากๆค่ะ
