Suzhou's City Wall

in #photography8 years ago

The most famous wall in China is, obviously, the one that runs thousands of kilometers and passes through Beijing. However, it seems that many Chinese cities have old, historical walls. These were, of course, common barriers, and Chinese history is filled with wars. So, it would make sense that bits of walls would still be around as a common historical attraction. This is the one in Suzhou. Yes, it's thousands of years old, but like a lot of historical attractions in China, it's largely been rebuilt. Some of the stones in this wall were not original to this wall.

One view from the top is far from picturesque. But the other side lets you get a got look a Suzhou's skyline.

On the left side of the above photo, you can see Suzhou's famous buildings that looks like a pair of trousers.

Looks not as crowded as I expected. Was this because of Chinese New Year?

exactly during spring festival.
