Oregon is my home state. The climate is moderate, our weather doesn't stay too cold or hot because of the effects of the Pacific Ocean which is about an hour drive from Eugene Oregon. We have a little hobby farm , which is around 2.5 acres. I had a blast tending 3 large gardens and raising 100 chickens a year. I sold most of the pullets and butchered the roos. We kept a breading flock of around 15 hens and a rooster. The girls kept us in eggs year round. Hopefully my husband and I will be able to move back to Oregon in 2018 after we have finished helping out family here in Oklahoma.

@reddust,
Those are absolutely great photography! Wow amazing! I never seen or experience Snow before! This is amazing! I like it!
Cheers~
Beautiful pictures, the one from the creek looking back at your house makes me think of Narnia :) I love the look of snow but I hate the cold. Here in Ohio it's been around 10 degrees or less the past few weeks, sigh.
I hear there are blizzards coming to the east after record colds. Be prepared! I love the extreme cold when compared to extreme heat. My body just wilts when I get too hot. The cold energizes me! I miss my home state and I am looking forward to going home.
oh jeeze, that is not what I wanted to hear! lol, I guess I'll just enter my art room, get some art done, and wait for the whole thing to blow over :)
Yeah, I put on my woolies, it's cold here in Oklahoma too, but not as brutal as the Eastern part of the USA. As soon as I am done with my house cleaning tasks I am off to work on my WIP and start a new portrait of Frank Bacon....art nouveau, Mucha style!
wow Winter wonderland :))waving from hot Mexico :))
I prefer the cold weather but I don't mind vacationing in the land of the sun and awesome people @liltammy!
Beautiful pictures! Happy New Year!
Happy New Year @simgirl, may your year be full of laughter!
Beautiful pictures
When snow is covered, the trees have a wonderful view
Difficulty living in the middle of these areas
The living is easy but we have to be prepared for storms and bad roads. We need a pantry full of food and lots of wood to keep warm. Also living up in the woods one needs basic skills in fixing things that break lolololol
I am an environment-friendly country with a high temperature
I can not live in low-temperature areas of DAT.
It is certain that during the period of snowfall and storms the roads will be poor and dangerous
The necessary food, wood, and wood must be supplied at home
The challenges of the Pacific Northwest bred a hardy population of people. But you desert people live in harsh conditions. If you don't plan well you could be in life threatening trouble. My State has deserts too. When we hike and fish we always make sure exactly where we are and don't go off trails. Getting lost in the desert we could die of thirst. Getting lost in the woods in the winter we could freeze to death!
Wonderful snowfall view Thank you for your participation
Thank you @lmarnis, I do enjoy sharing my favorite places, I am glad you like my home.
Enjoy. In your time
It looks lovely. WE are so cold now in the Northeast, unseasonably so, I cannot wait until Spring. My poor chickens and Quail are cold, but luckily I have given them both heat lamps (Which I usually only use when we have chicks) but it is so cold I can't let them rely on their feather coats ;) They are still laying every day though , the little darlings. I hope you get back to your lovely garden in Oregon some day.
Oh My goodness you all are experiencing Siberian type temperatures. My heart goes out to your flock. At least the electricity works. We had to keep a generator because our would go out during ice storms and I needed a heat lamp to keep our pump house from freezing!
I am homesick but my family keeps me busy.
I love snowfall because i never see snow in my life...

The long cold winter is coming and I can't wait! Living in the north takes a lot of preparation when you live up in the mountains. Often we lose our electricity and need a large woodpile for cooking and keeping warm.
Really nice photos @reddust :)
Thank you @gavinthegreat, I am glad to share, it helps my homesickness.
That is pretty. 2.5 acres sounds about right to me. Enough room to get into some trouble, and have some farm raised goodies.
We drove through Oklahoma earlier today and thought of you. Took a few pictures as we talked about you in the truck too. Hope you are having a great New Years Day!
If you are near Tulsa, lets go have coffee! I would love to meet you'all<3 I am used to taking care of large farms so this was easy-peasy. I would like at least 5 acres for a milk cow. When we go back to Oregon I'll be looking for that perfect little five acre hobby farm ;-)
Sadly, we are already in Kansas and leaving there in the morning. We are holding that coffee invite for our Steemit friends road trip!
I can hear your excitement for those 5 acres of heaven already - looking forward to seeing that dream come true. :)
