Bucharest International Lights Festival 11-15 April - Today: Le Petit Jardin

in #photography6 years ago

Bucharest as a city has many drawbacks, the biggest ones being the high air pollution and the daily traffic jams. But it also has its positive sides, like the parks, the huge variety of workshops and events in the personal development area, yoga studios, concerts, theatres, an amazing Philharmonic venue and some big events that have been organised in the recent years. One of these is the Spotlight Festival.

Right next to were I currently live it's one of the places that has been turned into an open air lights installation, called Le Petit Jardin, which means The Small Garden.

I got out this evening especially after sunset to catch some pics of this beautiful sight.

What I liked about these installations, besides the fantasy like atmosphere is that they are moving in the wind, imitating the movements of real flowers and trees. The big pinkish flowers even make sounds when the wind blows, as they are made of some kind of paper.

If you like these pics, I'll go check out the other installations in the next evenings and share them with you.

Great photographs @raluca. Open air lights installations are one of my favourite types of art in festivals. It's been a while since there's been one here. We have our big festival in May so hopefully there will be a light installation then.

I look forward to seeing some more! 😊

thanks @gillianpearce, glad you like these installations too. What is your big festival in May about?

It's about everythign really @raluca. 😁

It happens every year for the whole of May and there is dancing, theatre, poetry, comedy, art, film, music, art installations, street performances.

It is the single biggest art festival in the country after Edinburgh.

My favourite bits are the fringe stuff and the open houses. Artists group together and literally open their houses for the four weekends of the festival. You get to see some really good stuff, some truly terrible stuff and some weird and wonderful stuff. 😂

We particularly enjoy going to the houses that have garden installations and sell home-made cakes.

Instead of Valencia next year maybe you and @dragosroua could come to Brighton in May and experience it for yourselves! I guarantee you'd both love it. There's something for everyone! 😊

Thanks for the thorough answer, it sounds like a fun one month festival indeed! And thanks for the idea to come to Brighton during the festival. We'll definitely consider it :)

You're welcome @raluca. It's such fun it's hard not to wax lyrical about it! 😂

Nice scintillating show...especially the pink flower...
