Ajanta Caves are in Aurangabad district of Maharashtra. There is about 30 Rock cut Buddhism Monuments. The art in the Caves concept of painting and rock cut sculptures. It is assumed that this Buddhism art has a big impact on Indian culture. that's why these caves are important to Indian culture.

Cave #1:

This write-up is all about cave #1 of Ajanta. It was built in Phase-1 of the Ajanta caves creation. As suggested by the cave description placed on a board outside the cave, this is one of the finest monasteries of it's kind and handsomely ornamented.

It has:

• The sanctum house of Lord Buddha in preaching posture.
• Five disciples and a wheel flanked by deers at base os the pedestal.
• Beautifully carved pillars.

• Every inch of the wall was originally painted (after ~2000 years, some of the paintings still can be seen). Most of the painting are eroded by the time, but the remains of the paintings are still really beautiful and our mind starts imagining things which used to happen during that time.

• These walls are painted with Jataka tales and scenes related to Buddha's life.
• Ceiling is also painted that too with geometrical floral and faunal depiction.

• The cave also contains some of the masterpieces of the world of painting namely Padmapani and Vajrapani.

Please take care of following while visiting these Caves:

• You can do still photography, not videography until you have taken the permission.
• Camera flash is not allowed while taking the photographs.
• No camera stand or other fancy instrument allowed.
• No eatables allowed ( to maintain cleanliness)
• Carry a water bottle as there are no stores nearby actual caves. You will require to come down to take it.
