After the Fire, a #fridaypoets Poem
After the Fire
a crumbling cremated scaffold
a disintegrating monochrome
black and ashen bones
charcoal fractals decay
to an oily grey dust
a reservoir of energy to reconstruct
verdant power lies deeply rooted
hidden beneath scorched ruins
in mineral rich darkness
centered and balanced
a coiling strength
it’s what remains
after the fire
the creative power of her movement
spun out dead cells stretch upward
newborns break the ground
buds dance upon boughs
exposed and pirouetting
a blossom crescendo
it’s what remains
after the fire
hatching and fledging, flight
pollination and germination
the life cycle of the wood
it’s what remains
after the fire

I was about to say "It's like the cycle of life" when I read your line "the life cycle of the wood". It's true, but we're not happy when the burning happens. Wood smoke in the air here this morning and tonight. Forest fire nearby...
Yikes ... no. The air quality certainly suffers during the fires. I think we have a bit of the smoke here too but hopefully we will get some more moisture to keep things at bay.
Yes, hope so. I feel we have only two seasons here in BC... fire, and rain.
A most excellent poem, a literary vision of the cycle of the forest. As your comments below discuss, very hard on the folks that live nearby, but an important part of the cycle of forest life. One they've really monkeyed with out this way, as you know. And hard to get back into as it was designed. We had health-destroying smoke last year, I'm hoping not this year. I'm sure you did too, last summer. Is it bad right now?
Thank you, DD:) Actually we just got some rain; so that is good. Hopefully we get enough sprinkles to keep the forests moist:)
The power of fire is the rebirth of many plants. It is fertilizer, it is also the germinator of many seeds.
Yep ... thank you, cordero:)
Your poetry speaks of rebirth, of the power of fire to burn the old and tired so that the new, more beautiful and splendid springs up: The elementary regeneration for the continuation of life. Excellent work, Pryde and the arrangement I loved!
Thank you, zeleira:) I am experimenting more with layout:):):)
This is just beautiful, @prydefoltz.
I've just lost a friend this morning to a terrible disease. I want to think whatever became of her, it is now these buds, which
Like the Phoenix should turn into a flower.
I am so sorry for you loss, Marlyn, but I do know we are all connected and she remains part of us:)
Thnak you, @prydefoltz. She certainly does.
The beauty of nature is another name flower....i like ti your post
