Portuguese Man o' War

Found in Cape Canaveral, Florida, USA

Even though this marine animal is beautiful, it's tentacles deliver a powerful venomous sting.

Portuguese man o' war are not quite jelly fish, but are similar to them. The main difference between the two is that the with this species, it is actually multiple separate organisms integrated together to form the Portuguese man o' war. This gives them the classification of a colonial organism. The organisms making up the Portuguese man o' war are all of the same species, yet serve different purposes for the organism as a whole. They cannot live independently, which makes this creature even more fascinating.
