Cinematic Latex Shoot on RED|Scarlet

in #photography7 years ago (edited)

Let´s do it.

As I mentioned i like shooting in a motion picture fashion. My tool of joice is the RED|Scarlet DSMC. For a photo camera it´s kind of big. For a motion picture camera it´s really small and handy. Especially the side handles make it easy to move around quickly. Another nice feature is the 5" touchscreen which can be turned about 360°. A nice tool for looking at motives in every position. And is still fancied by a lot of RED Users. Even by using the latest DSMC² series.

What´s the difference between stills photography and motion pictures?

By classic still photography you have obviously one image by one click. Or may be some more by using sequecial exposures. The RED|Scarlet-MX captures a constant stream of images on an APS-H Sensor in RAW. In my model´s case a Sensor in 27mm x 25mm dimension. So we started experimenting. Though some natural light has got a bit dark already. It almost got a bit of a documentary look.

Shooting with a rolling camera is fun. The load of raw material you get is enormous. And the luxury you have aswell. In post you are rolling through true raw images. If you are lazy you could just do basic color correction in REDCineX and do any output you like from a certain image you fancy.

No matter how you approach to get your results. I like the options you get by it :-)

And of course, if you like you can do motion sequences aswell:

Happy to read your ideas! Yours Photono
