Ua Mau ke Ea o ka ʻĀina i ka Pono - The life of the land is perpetuated in righteousness
Ua Mau ke Ea o ka ʻĀina i ka Pono - The life of the land is perpetuated in righteousness. This is the motto to the State of Hawaii as Hawaii became a State in 1959.
This phrase was first spoken by Kamehameha III, the King of Hawaii, when the land of Hawaii was returned to the Monarchy by the British on July 31, 1843, at Thomas Square on the island of Oahu.
