Limpet - Virginia King - Wood and Bronze - 1997

New Zealand artist Virginia King draws inspiration for her art from life in the South Pacific. The sea and its creatures often serve as subjects for her work. Here a limpet, commonly known in Hawaii as Opihi, was fabricated from salvaged woods, demonstrating her concern for ecolody and the importance of maintaining a balance beween sustainability and progress.
