A Wildlife Photographer's Personal Favourites

in #photography7 years ago (edited)

Below are a few pictures that I'd like to share. I don't feel that they're the very best images I've ever captured, but they're some of my favourites, largely due to the fond memories I have of taking them. I'd like to thank Steemit for giving me the motivation to delve into my back catalogue of photos and resdiscover old shots that I'd completely forgotten about. Hope you enjoy them, let me know what you think.

A slower shutter speed allowed me to catch the movement of the rain. Luckily the Kingfisher remained still.

The light was just right, creating colourful reflections in the water.

A cute blue tit with pink petals at his feet.

A doting mother watches her young.

These ducks mating look like they're having a great time, although she threw him off soon after so maybe it was a one sided affair.

The moment a heron caught its dinner.

This guy appeared in an eariler post of mine but I thought I'd include him here too.

A deer in rut looking fairly aloof.

I hope you enjoyed the pictures, I'll be writing many future blogs featuring more of my photoraphy. I'll be covering things such as shooting & editing techniques, how to approach your subjects, dealing with technical limitations, and much more. Be sure to follow if you're interested. Cheers everybody.

Very beautiful photos, @phoblographer!

I've made a point to check out your work after your lens recommendations on my Lady Bug larvae macro post. Following you and resteeming these lovely shots!

Btw, what kind of lenses do you use?

Hi dek, thanks for your comments. I used a Nikon D750 and a Sigma 150-600mm f5 - 6.3 Contemporary lens for all of these photos. In future posts I'll include the exposure data with my pics. Thanks again.

I may have to change what I think of Sigma lenses, I suppose. That, or you manage to get the best out this lens! :)

The new line of Sigma lenses are excellent, they often perform better than their Nikon/Canon counterparts. By new line I'm referring to the Art, Contemporary and Sport lenses. There are however a few quirks inherent to the 150-600mm C that require some workarounds. Same with all lenses I suppose : /

These are all amazing. I love the rain in the first one! Isnt the capturing the memories along with the shot the true magic of photography!

Yes, I love looking back through old photos and seeing the places I've been. And thank you, I'm glad you enjoy my photography : )

Nice wildlife photos, I follow you =)

Thanks, I've followed you too

Dude that kingfisher picture is insane!!! Upped and following for sure! :)

Thanks, it is one of my favourites. In the future I'll be writing a blog specifically related to photographing kingfishers, it'll include more of my photography, I hope you'll check it out. Thanks again for your interest, I've followed you too.

Wonderful Wildlife photographs. Would like to learn a lot more from you! Followed :)

Thank you, I hope to be a useful member of the community. If you ever have any questions about shooting or editing techniques, I'd be happy to help you. I've followed you too.

Nice photography work, fun to see the colors of mother nature if you're working from behind your pc

Beautiful images. You must need a lot of patience to get such perfect shots!

Upvoted, followed & looking forward to more!

Thank you Sroka, and yes wildlife photography requires a great deal of patience. Thank you for following me, I've followed you too.

You are very good @phoblographer. Please provide some info on your equipment and exposure data, that way you will allow other not only to look at your works, but also to learn.

Hi Lighteye, I used a Nikon D750 and a Sigma 150-600mm f5 - 6.3 Contemporary lens for all of these photos (I may do a review of this lens in the future). I generally don't include exposure data with a photos series article as I feel it can clutter the post, especially for those who may be unfamiliar with camera exif data.

I do take your point though, and in future blogs that are more tutorial driven, I will include exposure data along with my reasons for using the given settings. Thanks for your feedback, I'm glad you enjoy the photos. I've followed you and I look forward to your future posts : )

Those are fantastic photos @phoblographer. Upvoted, resteemed, followed & DPS. And yes, we are eagerly waiting more of your quality works.

Thanks once again for your support.
