Bulgaria #86 - Bankso Pirin Mountains
Romania - Bulgaria Holiday
• August- September 2018
• 10 days travelling through Bucharest in Romania and Bulgaria
• A nice finish to our Azerbaijan-Georgia trip - A pleasant mixture of beautiful countryside and old world townships mixed with a touch of modern.
• Plenty of old roman buildings and architecture to wander around. Sites visited included Tsarevets Fortress, old hilltop fortress of Nebet Tepe, Belitsa Bear Sanctuary, a hike through the Pirin Mountains and the Rila Monastery.
• Once again in both countries we were impressed with the mix of old and new existing side by side and found the architecture, history and customs fascinating.
• Another thoroughly enjoyable trip in an area less frequented by the mainstream tourist. Both countries are relatively poor but the locals were friendly and hospitable. Some of our trip was on public transport which was a great way to join in with the locals. The people at the guesthouse in Gorno Draqliste wre fantastic and plenty of the homemade Raki was consumed that night.
