Beauty of Jeffersonia Flower
Jeffersonia, also known as twinleaf, is a delicate and unique spring wildflower named in honor of Thomas Jefferson. One of the most distinctive features of Jeffersonia is its pair of twin leaves, which are deeply lobed and resemble two halves of a butterfly's wings. These leaves emerge in early spring before the flowers.
Jeffersonia produces delicate, star-like flowers with eight white petals. The flowers appear on slender stems above the twin leaves, creating a beautiful and contrasted display against the foliage. These flowers typically bloom in early to mid-spring, often before many other woodland wildflowers, making them a sought-after sight for early-season wildflower enthusiasts.Jeffersonia is native to parts of eastern North America, particularly in deciduous woodlands and shady, moist areas. It can be found in regions of the United States and Canada.
