[•] Canon 8-15mm F4 Fisheye Lens Review

When you first unbox this lens you will notice upon removing the lens cap (Canon carefully packaged the lens with fabric to protect the front element) You will find with the design that when you go to put the lens cap back on it will not fix securely.
To solve the problem buy some velcro tape and use the soft side and cut two 1cm squares and stick them to the inside of the lens cap. This will make the lens cap a snug fit when you put lens cap back on. (Problem Solved but Canon should check their quality control for the amount of money people spend to get this lens)

The Canon 8-15mm F4 L is a unique lens for the unbelievable angle of view and crazy distortion it produces.. It is perfect for being creative and a must for photographers that want to shoot spherical panoramics. The reason why it is so successful for panoramics is that you reduce the amount of photographs you will need to take. The less photographs taken between shots for example on a windy day can determine if the sky and clouds will match up. On the 15mm index you can take 8 photographs in a 360 degree turn which comes in very handy.

The reason to choose this lens is the possibility of being the most creative compared to all the EOS lenses available. It is a fun lens and helps create unique one of a kind looks to photographs. Friends will love having their portrait taken and will make their face look funny.

Not the cheapest fisheye in comparison to other DSLR camera brands but it performs as one of the better performers.

Photograph titled [•] Rain Bokeh taken at Helensburgh Old Metropolitan Tunnel. Added a Lightroom filter effect to the final image.

Final conclusion and main reason for purchase of this lens would be for creating spherical panoramics. Excellent for location shots created with multiple images taken on a tripod and panoramic head then stitched together on PC with Software like PTGui and Photoshop. Websites such as www.360cities.net/ are great for showing this in interactive form. Here is a completed example https://www.360cities.net/image/sea-cliff-bridge-nsw-australia

The 8-15mm does offer many options in expanding anyones photography skills. It will keep you very busy if you enjoy shooting outdoors and multiple locations and even better when you get to share the experience with older loved ones that are confined to the indoors.

(Next Lens Review to be 16-35mm)

Did you afford it with stern or... Also could you recommend a budget camera for me as I'm interested in starting photography but really can't decide on what camera to get.
Mirrorless or dark.
Cheers for the lense and hope you buy more later on friend.
Much love and stream on :)

Hi vangelov . I saved to get the lens and new to steam for any chance to use any crypto to purchase camera gear would be a dream. For camera recommendation a full frame and kit lens. I started with 5D with 24-105mm F4 was fantastic back in the day. My website I have some neat reviews on Sony Mirrorless and more Canon stuff. Follow your heart with choice too. Also Canon 6D Mark II will be available soon if your thinking Canon.

Another photographer with an eye for quality.

lol Thanks winstonwolfe. You made me laugh for some reason. Will check out your page too. :-)

That's a good review of an extreme lens @pazrahn. Please put used focal length in your camera settings to make data complete. Upvoted, resteemed, followed & DPS.

Please state clearly how would you like to be featured in the “Daily Photo Selection”: with a linked photo, or with link only without a photo. We are making a list of photographers who are ready to improve the visibility of their work through the DPS. Thank you.

Thanks photo-trail I will add those settings first thing tomorrow. :-)

I am considering a wide angle for Canon. Looking forward your review for 16-35mm. Need to make decision to buy Cannon zoom or Zeiss 18mm or 15mm.
