Rain again, but all turned out well.

A high flying Egyptian Goose means that the dams and the lower levels are very cold!

In the apple valley winter lasts much longer than in other areas of the country. I remember that on the 1st day of September on the highveld, as children how eager we were to go for a swim, but down here one will surely freeze on the same day. Apparently we can only look forward to warmer days towards the middle of October. The rain and the icy wind brought in from the Atlantic ocean certainly makes for testing times.
Here's some pictures of today!

Fortunately, once the rain clouds start coagulating it means that the rain will soon stop.

This little guy sensed it and started singing! No zoom here as photos blur in bad light.

As the blue sky started to appear, the swallows started to prepare for flight.

And away they go. Not too clear yet due to light.

And if the rain stops, what do birds do? EAT!

Wow! This guy seems to be intent on eating one Loquat fruit every day. By the time the other fruits ripen in the citrus orchards he will be too heavy and will need to get a wheelbarrow to move around.

In my mind's eye, I can see "Grumpy" the thrush and "Smiley" the barbet pushing the wheelbarrow around with the little heavy white-eye's screams in their ears to go faster Lol.

Jokes aside maybe our charity should start some nutritional and dieting classes for the birds and in return, the birds can give us singing lessons? I know one guy that tortures my ears every Sunday in church, as he sings false and insists on singing the loudest. I will insist that he enlists in the singing lessons and I will pay the birds much fruit to teach him.
Humor helps to keep the cold at bay. Selah!

@anonyvoter thank you and I will have a look. We certainly need all of the support that we can get! Blessings!

You have a large collection of bird photos for us

@merryslamb I have only shown a fraction of the birds thus far, as we have thousands more in South Africa. Blessings!

I am very anxious then to see more about the birds, you are blessed then to be able to admire them

Gorgeous photos of our winged friends;) But they must be quite a problem in the orchards?
We had a lot of rain here in Durban plus it's chilly again, apparently snowing in the southern Berg, very thankful for the rain!

@lizelle that they are Lady Lizelle, I think every farmer has about a 10% write off on crops due to birds. Good thing is that some of them also eat the insects. Good to hear that you guys are getting our cold front, as it will help to eradicate the dryness. Dropped us here to 8 degrees at times and today was our first full day of sun for a while! Blessings!

That humor made me smile :)
Humor spreads positivity :D
keep warm, lucky you we are at 44 degrees celcius yesterday.

@sherylneil wow, we also have places up north that gets so hot and I've been to a few. Your end is firing and our end is freezing. Glad that you see the sense of humor! Blessings!

Cold front has hit the whole country, almost happens every year in September of late. We had 40mm of most welcome rain with snow in the mountains, hope the farmers flourish now the rains have arrived again.

Lovely moody photo of the cloud hanging around the mountains Stephen, yes vocalizing birds are one thing, singing out of tune another @papilloncharity

@joanstewart as a kid we would have rejoiced at this weather as cold, or no cold, the rain would mean that we would get the okay to go and swim. Glad you guys are getting some much needed water over there Lady Joan. Snow is also a good thing as it's extra water. I hear Hermanus is busy to construct storm water drainage for flooded areas so that the water could run into the sea. Millions of fresh water litres are flushed into the sea all over the coasts of our country and if only a plan could be made to dam the water and to pump it to dry areas. A massive project I know, but I am only a dreamer! Blessings!

As children we splashed each other in every pool we found, cold or hot weather made no difference.

Capturing water is better than run off into the sea, sadly with so much construction and bad planning more flooding is happening today.
