African Skies before a Thunderstorm!

I always see the signs! Weird patterned, heavy clouds that can withstand the fierce winds! At noon the white clouds throw off the bluest of rays when they drift over the sun's surface! I write this now to the sound of lightning and rain.

Oh yes! I have taken more that 100 photos during the course of the storm's build up and have many that's so amazing in color and context! All of the photos in this post were taken later in the afternoon about 2 hours before the rain started!

Talking about weird colors, take a load of this magnificent piece! Once again, a camera cannot do justice to the real view!

Looks like a hole in the sky doesn't it! Beautiful sun rays streaming through in so many colors!

Please forgive the huge name on the pictures, as although I have adjusted the size of the photos, I still have to get my name right! But it will be corrected and adjusted to a menial size soon.

I have the feeling that our rain has increased in size and quantity over the years! The raindrops are much larger and the duration is also faster. It now comes down like little floods!
A municipality manager told me that our storm-water drains cannot cope with the increased amounts of water.

But who's complaining as we desperately need the water, but sadly our maintenance is not up to scratch.
Every drop should be saved, but we have leaking pipes all over the place in our area. Of course it's due to the age of the infrastructure, as Johannesburg's older suburbs were built during the Gold Rush.
But a systematic and more importantly, planned, renewal would certainly improve matters.
