PRAIRIE LIZARDS IN THE WOODS!!!

in #photography5 years ago

These guys are everywhere!

During the early morning hours, things are cold, and so are the reptiles. Hidden beneath the rocks and logs are some rather slow-moving Prairie Lizards, which can easily be captured and photographed at that point. However, we like a little more of a challenge, so we wait until they are zipping around during the heat of the day. Here's a rather large one that we recently captured. Enjoy!

Evidently, they didn't read the signs.

Lots of lizards means lots of insect yummies for them = a healthy environment. We have dozens of "house lizards" and hundreds in the garden round the house. Whichever dominant male lizard conquers the rest and rules our kitchen is inevitably called 'George'. Our 'house lizards' in Thailand can easily be 12 inches long. LOL.
