I stumbled across this story on wetransfer ! the smart cookies there use their backgrounds as a showcase for talent (and advertising). This is a photo essay about up and coming Photographer Aleksey Kondratyev and his project to document Ice Fishermen in Astana, Kazakhstan

If you don't know about wetransfer.com it's an amazing file transfer service which allows you to send files up to 2gb free of charge and email the recipient a 7 day download link. I use it a lot. Once upon a time, we used to use motorcycle couriers to send hard drives with data on back and forward to our clients. (then usb sticks) which often got lost or were never returned ... nowadays we hardly ever use couriers. You can pay for a premium service with wetransfer files and send even bigger files, have a customised and branded interface if you choose a plan. In fact, I stumbled across this story as I was downloading a file from one of my animation team, who is based in Greece for project with a team in NYC. Distributed working is very 2018 !

Many years ago, a client drove to our studio on a Sunday morning from Amsterdam in the Netherlands (to London) in the UK to pick up a Hard Drive containing animation for a film we'd been working on. He then promptly drove back again ! (that's 1099.8 kms round trip and about a 12 hour drive. The film, A Life Among Whales it's a great film won MANY awards including Ben & Jerry's Environmental Award as you'll see on this list at the link
