RE: Central Park Lagoon • NYC

in #photography7 years ago

The Japanese maple trees are not native here so they are a special tree. But they do grow well in this climate and there is a large variety of trees in the park and probably some were planted for aesthetic reasons. The pond smells like wet leaves this time of year. The paths through the woods have a woodsy smell that is truly undeveloped nature. During Springtime in the park the flowering trees and shrubs give off a sweet hopeful scent especially the gardenia or lilac. Probably similar to what you are experiencing now!

Thanks for the great feedback,

I know thaf our indiginous plants are beautiful, we pride ourselves on fynbos but it smells herbal in a way. Fynbos in direct translation from Afrikaans actually manrs "little bush".

Because fynbos is a dry plant, requires little water..its said that some fynbos only blooms after a fire.

I'm not familiar with fynbos. That's very interesting.
