Streets in the evening #hdr by oscarps
In 1930 the techniques of realization of HDR images were realized originally in the decades 1930 and 1940 by Charles Wyckoff.
His detailed images of nuclear explosions appeared on the cover of Life magazine in the mid-1940s. Wyckoff implemented the remapping of local neighboring tones to combine differently shaped exposed film layers into a single image of a higher dynamic range.
In 1980 HDR convenience has been recognized for decades, but its greater use was, until recently, excluded by the limitations imposed by the current processing capacity of computers. Probably the first practical application of HDR was the film industry in the late 1980s and in 1985 Gregory Ward created the RGBE image file format for radiance, which was the first (and even the most widely used) HDR image format .
