A trip to the German Government bunker - Besuch im Regierungsbunker - Part 1

During the cold war the capital of Germany wasn't Berlin but Bonn a more or less small town near Cologne. The Government had two plans what to do if the bombs start falling. Plan B was to move the Government directly to Florida. Plan A was to evacuate the Government to a big bunker near the town of Ahrweiler. The bunker wasn't really secure. A single bomb would've destroyed it directly. But they kept using it till 1997 when more and more governmental agencys moved to Berlin. Since 2009 you can visit the parts of the bunker that are still intact while most of it was shut down. I went there this year and got some photos I'd like to share. The light down there is terrible so most pictures weren't showable but some stuff is really interesting to see.

Meinen deutschsprachigen Lesern muss ich wohl kaum erklären, was es mit den deutschen Hauptstädten auf sich hat, aber ich möchte ein paar Informationen zum Bunker geben: Die Regierung hatte zwei Pläne für den Fall eines Atomkrieges. Plan A war in den Bunker bei Ahrweiler zu flüchten und Plan B war nach Florida zu fliegen. Da der Bunker schon vor der Inbetriebnahme veraltet war und von jeder modernen Bombe hätte zerstört werden können, bin ich mir sicher, dass Plan B der wahrscheinlichere war. Das Museum im Regierungsbunker kann man seit 2009 besichtigen und es lohnt sich wirklich. :)

After you passed the door you need to move through a decontamination shower. I have no pictures but it's just a 60s style bathroom. Behind the bathroom you can find the first office. I love this old machines :D

After that you can see a small warehouse:

I really love this picture inside the warehouse. It means: Secure your eyes. Also the phone inside the warehouse looks nice.
