Orangila Photography Tip #1 - Photo Storage & Sharing

in #photography7 years ago (edited)

As I mentioned in my intro, me and my partners just started a new business venture where we host entrepreneurship programs for university students. Our main source of income is sponsorships. Good relationship, extensive network and detail proposal are some of the factors approach suitable sponsors, but many times, great photos and videos play an important factor to convince sponsors the value of our programs and is a major contributing factor for us to seal the deal.

Here are the platforms I use

1) Flickr

Flickr is a great platform to share photos

Pros:
- 1TB storage space for free
- Photos posted on Flickr are not compressed, the dynamics, sharpness and color is simple amazing
- Photos in albums are more presentable and very suitable for end users

Cons:
- End users have no issue to download individual photos but different can be said about downloading the entire album

2) Facebook Album

Facebook Album is probably the most popular platform for obvious reasons

Pros:
- Interactivity (Ability to tag an individual, Facebook Page, comment and reply)
- Connectivity (pay to publish photo album, ability to reach larger and target audience)

Cons:
- Compressed photo (lower quality) & not as suitable to download entire album (even if you don't mind the reduced quality)

3) DropBox

Like Google Photos, Dropbox is more for download/upload for sharing purposes

Pros:
- Easy to use (because of limited options)
- One click to download entire album

Cons:
- Album is not as visually appealing so it is less presentable

My recommendations:
- Use Flickr if you want to impress others as it is visually appealing for viewing purposes
- Use Facebook if you are looking to connect more with your audience. It is more marketable to promote your business
- Use Dropbox only for upload/download purposes.

I welcome all questions and will reply ASAP.
