Wow! That grip you have on the pole does not seem to me to be adequate to support the weight. Has the image been altered, or can such a grip really support that position?
If I force my shoulder into the pole so much that it hurts yes it can support me. LOL. But don't worry, the body learns not to feel the pain after lots of practice.

Of course it can support the weight cause you push with your arms to your shoulder and then make those abdominals work :) But you have to practice and get the necessary strength to be able to do it. It is an advanced movement
