Flowers summer # 6 💐Wonderful Begonia!

All the same, October decided to please us with its warm, sunny days, and it pleases! The bright sun is shining, the cobweb is flying, although the air is cool, but the autumn atmosphere does its job and the mood is wonderful! Time is so transient, more recently, we rejoiced at September and its bloom, but October does not leave without its colors. A vivid example of Tuberous Begonia. I love her large-flowered, terry inflorescences. Every year this beauty more and more conquers the love of gardeners. And it is clear! Dense foliage and lush inflorescences, decorate any garden!

This plant was first described by Karl Linney in the 17th century when visiting the wonderful island of Haiti! Lush inflorescences of course do not leave anyone indifferent. Far from something similar to roses. But upon closer inspection, a completely different beauty is revealed! No worse than roses, I tell you! The plant was named after the governor of Santo Domingo, who by the way was a big collector of various plants - Michel Begon.

Every year the plant is gaining increasing popularity. Thanks to our breeders, the number of species and hybrids is growing at a high rate. Pleases a large selection of colors not only inflorescences, but the leaves, which themselves are an ornament. Inflorescences are white, cream, all shades of red, pink, purple, yellow. And plus of this wonderful plant, it is absolutely not whimsical and even a novice gardener will cope with it.

In addition to our usual indoor plants. A large number of perennial species, which are able to overshadow their beauty, any ornamental plant! So, the tuberous begonias can be divided into three types: small-flowered (these are both simple and double), medium-flowered double, and large-flowered double. Each of them is beautiful in its own way.

Tuberous begonias breed by seeds, tubers and cuttings. The most effective is still considered replaceable, since it is when it preserves all varietal characteristics. Seeds should be sown in January in boxes, then covered with glass or cellophane, do not forget to spray as needed. After the first seedlings have risen, they need to be dive, sometimes you have to do it twice. It's good that the plant tolerates transplanting calmly) In May, when all the frosts are past, the plant can be planted in open ground. But one should not expect the same large bushes in the first year as they are painted on the seed packaging, only the second or third year can become such.

Choosing a place on your site, it is better to give preference to the penumbra, although the flowering plant loves the sun. The place should be protected from strong winds. The soil should be light, well drained. During we remove the weeds, do not forget to feed your beauty with mineral fertilizers. Watering is moderate, it is not worth pouring, the root system rots so quickly.
