Old wrought ironwork
This is a detail of a cart I saw on the estate of Twickel yesterday. What you see here is the connection to the shafts the horse pulls and a step to get to the driver's position. I love this old ironwork.

Not that the type of suspension used here on this old farmer's cart was the top of modernity in the rear suspension of American cars until very recently.
That red really got my attention, had to click to see what it is :)
Me too! lol
Great photo. The red really caught my eye too, like @shieha. Saw a museum wagon not too long ago that had the similar "leafspring" suspension, but out of stacked leather strips. Whatever worked at the time. Probably squeaked a bunch, like 10,000 cowboy saddles in an old western movie on the TV, since that was a big sound effect back then. Times have changed.
