New Bugs
New photos, that is, but this first one was actually new to me; I had never seen it before. It's a silver barred (Deltote bankiana), zilverstreep in Dutch.
It was hiding low to the groud and a pain to photograph, this is the best I could do:
Olympus Stylus 1s, 42mm, ISO100, f5.6, 1/400s
Speaking of difficult: there is a class of moths that like to sit on the underside of leaves. Usually, you don't see these, but this one chose a narrow leaf and was sticking out. Still, some antics were required to get a shot:
Olympus Stylus 1s, 42mm, ISO160, f8, 1/160s
This green lacewing of the Chrysopidae family, gaasvlieg in Dutch, was sitting in the open, and had the good grace to pose on something orange, which gives a nice contrast:
Olympus Stylus 1s, 42mm, ISO200, f5.6, 1/160s
I'm happy to say that, despite the weatcher we have been having in The Netherlands, the azure damselflies (Coenagrion puella), azuurwaterjuffers in Dutch, are still there:
Olympus Stylus 1s, 300mm, ISO200, f5.6, 1/125s
Thanks for watching!
I never see that bug...
Beautiful images as always @ocrdu. I think trying to find a butterfly in the garden is like trying to find a needle in the haystack. You did well to find the silver barred!
Thanks! I made these photos in the local peat bog, plenty of moths there, but further apart than in the garden 8-(.
Yeah I previously saw a few of your dragonflies from that peat bog. Looks like there is a lot of diversity there which makes for some great content. Thanks for sharing your views of the world :)
You are most welcome.
Wonderful insects! :)
Thanks!
