Moths: Brown Silver-Line

in #photography8 years ago

The brown silver-line (Petrophora chlorosata), varenspanner in Dutch, is found in Europe and Asia. It has a wingspan of about 35mm (1.2") and flies from April to June. Its host plants are ferns.

These are a pain to photograph, as they like to hide near the ground in high grass and refuse to pose when so instructed. It's one of those species that makes photographers crawl around a lot. I did manage to get three photos of the little buggers though:

Olympus Stylus 1s, 42mm, ISO125, f5.6, 1/160s

Olympus Stylus 1s, 300mm, ISO200, f5.6, 1/320s

Olympus XZ-1, 112mm, ISO100, f8, 1/250s

Thanks for watching!
