Modest Moths

in #photography7 years ago

Not as exuberant as some butterflies, but beautiful in their own way.

The common wave (Cabera exanthemata), bruine grijsbandspanner in Dutch:

The brown silver-line (Petrophora chlorosata), varenspanner in Dutch:

The pale oak beauty (Hypomecis punctinalis), ringspikkelspanner in Dutch:

Olympus XZ-1, 28mm, ISO200, f6.3, 1/160s

The birch mocha (Cyclophora albipunctata), berkenoogspanner in Dutch:

The blood-vein (Timandra comae), lieveling in Dutch:

Now that you are here anyway, a question: I found this black blob, probably a stack of insect or spider eggs, on a blade of grass the other day. Please let me know if you know what it is:

Thanks for watching!

Great shots
Sorry, don't know near enough about creepy crawlies to tell you what that black blob is. It was mentioned it might be a mantis egg, however it looks a little black to me, to be that.

I really like your photography work when nature is working and taken by the photographer's lens

Cool collection of moths!

Thanks!
Many like to sit on the underside of leaves close to the ground, I like those a bit less 8-).

A wonderful collection of butterflies!

Thank you!

Nice moth collection. I especially appreciate that you can determine it.
Insects and flowers make me problem to recognize. Resteemed.

Great moths!
The black mass of eggs looks a bit like a mantis egg sac, but I don't know if you have mantis where you are?

Not that I know of, just the regular crickets and grasshoppers.

A picture taken at the right moment makes a dull view beautiful. All the pics are proof of that. Except the last one, it's spell-bounding.
