Green bug

These little buggers are a pain to photograph. Why? Because they almost never stand still; they run all the time, and when you manage to get close, they fly away.

One of the most camera-shy insects I ever tried to photograph, and I'm still not completely happy with the result, but here it is, the green tiger beetle (Cicindela campestris):

It's a pretty beetle, with some nice metallic effects in its colour, but it will be a while before I have another go at photographing one of these.
