German border in the mist

in #photography8 years ago

Two views from The Netherlands into Germany I photographed yesterday. I was standing near an old smuggler's path through the peat bog. The stone pillar in the photos is a border marker.

I like the emptiness and quietness here. No people, no sounds, just the odd bird passing by.

Very interesting photos!
I took this photo below, standing in the US, looking across a river into Canada. There were no border markers here or patrol officers.

Nice shot! What did you smuggle across? 8-)

No smuggling this time! We fished in that area, and I wonder if we caught American fish or Canadian fish, since the border crossed through the river.

The fish don't care about such things 8-).

excellent photos

Thank you.

Great shots @ocrdu! Now that the EU exists what does the border mean now?

We still have nation states, and different laws apply on different sides of the border, even with free movement of people and goods. Also, what with my family history, the German border still has a whole other meaning as well, but let's not go there.

beautiful shots, great job :0 :-)

Thank you.
