Brown Butterflies

No outlandish colour scheme on this one, but it still is pretty in its own way:


Olympus Stylus 1s, 42mm, ISO200, f8, 1/125s

It's a speckled wood (Pararge aegeria), bont zandoogje in Dutch. It looks very fresh and undamaged; I wouldn't be surprised if we are seeing an extra generation of these this year.

Its Dutch name suggests this one is a close cousin:


Olympus XZ-1, 112mm, ISO100, f8, 1/250s

It's a meadow brown (Maniola jurtina), bruin zandoogje in Dutch.
